As the dawn of a new year is upon us, I would like to express my best wishes and heartfelt hopes for a happy and peaceful 2013.

The past year has seen sweeping changes all around us. We live, no doubt, in challenging times. But if the coming year is full of promise, it is because we can shape it by our will and action. 

As Israelis, we extend to all nations what we seek from each other and from our neighbors: peace, security, and a better future for our children. A new beginning is always a new hope, and we can – indeed, we must – work together so that 2013 will be the year that we fulfilled these precious, and yet so basic, hopes.

This is my pledge to you. I am certain that as we will turn the page on 2013 it will be with the conviction that we have done our utmost to bring happiness and fulfillment to our fellow women and men and that we will have proven that fear can and will be defeated by hope.

Я хочу пожелать всем, в особенности, русскоязычным израильтянам, счастливого Нового Года! Года, в котором вернется надежда и никому из вас не придется больше опасаться за свое будущее, за будущее детей, за средства к существованию, за безопасность и жилье. Я желаю вам, чтоб новый год был ознаменован движением к процветанию и росту как для государства Израиль, так и для каждого из нас. Вы этого заслуживаете, и обеспечить это является нашей прямой обязанностью в новом году. С Новым Годом!
